Tyrese Haliburton Named Western Conference Rookie of the Month

The standout rookie was honored for his impressive month of January alongside Eastern Conference recipient LaMelo Ball

Tyrese Haliburton is making is presence known just 18 games into his NBA career.

The 12th overall pick in last year’s draft was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for his efforts in January, becoming the first Sacramento Kings player to receive the honor since Buddy Hield was honored in March of the 2016-17 season.

Haliburton, 20, has been very impressive on both sides of the ball so far for the Kings, proving to be a candidate for this year’s Rookie of the Year Award race.

The former Iowa State Cyclone averaged 11.2 points (.473 FG%, .417 3pt%, .833 FT%), 3.9 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.8 blocks and 28.6 minutes per game over the month of January.

Per Sean Cunningham of ABC, Kings Haliburton ranks 6th amongst all rookies in scoring (10.7), tied for 8th in rebounds (3.8), 2nd in assists (5.4), 7th in field goal percentage (.465), 5th in three-point field goal percentage (.409), and 5th in steals (1.1) per game.

Sacramento is off to a surprising start, holding a 9-11 record and sitting just 1.5 games out of the eighth-spot in the Western Conference.
