The 49ers did just enough to squeak by the Packers last weekend, now set to face a physical Lions team for a trip to the Super Bowl.
The San Francisco 49ers play host to the Detroit Lions in the 2024 NFC Championship Game. A game that will feature two premier offenses, with both squads likely to battle until the final whistle.
Will the storybook Lions make it to The Big Game after a 22-season-playoff-win drought? Or, will San Francisco head to their two Super Bowl appearance in five seasons?
The 49ers and Lions have met 68 times, first doing so in 1950. The two NFC foes last squared off Week 1 of the 2021 season. That was Lions’ coach Dan Campbell’s first game in charge, losing to the visiting 49ers, 41-33.
Now 868 days apart, the two teams will duel for the rights to play in Super Bowl LVIII.
“Here we are, second year in a row in the NFC Championship, very thankful for it, but obviously we have a bigger goal in mind and we have to handle business this Sunday,” 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy said Friday.
