After a much needed week off, the 49ers are gearing up for their first postseason game of 2024, facing a very familiar opponent in the Packers.

The San Francisco 49ers open their 2024 postseason campaign with a visit from the Green Bay Packers, fresh off their dominant win over Dallas, 48-32. While the home team opened as 10-point favorites, the NFC Divisonal Round showdown promises to have fireworks throughout.

San Francisco haven’t played a meaningful contest since Week 17, wrapping up the No. 1 seed in the conference then. And after a few weeks of rest, the Red & Gold are as healthy as ever for a deep playoff run.

The 49ers and Packers have a long history, dating back to 1950. Both sides have met 72 times, with Green Bay holding the better record of 33-38-1 all-time. San Francisco has been the victors in recent contests however, winning three of the last five meetings.

The NFC rivals last faced one another in the 2022 NFC Divisional Round, winning one a last-second field goal, 13-10, in Wisconsin.

While the 49ers are seen as preverbal favorites this time around, the team wot be taking their opponents lightly, preparing for a tough battle Saturday.

“They’ve always done a good job. They rarely have a player who shouldn’t be out there,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday. “They draft well. They keep their own pretty well. They’ve done it consistently for a long time. And always when you give young guys opportunities, sometimes there’s some bumps in the road, which it sounds like they’ve gone through with this year a little bit. But you get through those. They find a way to win that last game and get in the playoffs and now they’ve got a good team that you don’t look at it as a bunch of rookies. You look at guys almost in their second and third year and they’re playing like it.”

What time does the 49ers vs Packers game start?

Kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m. PST on Saturday, Jan. 20th, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Where can I watch the game?

The game will air live on FOX. The broadcast team includes Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen in the booth, with Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi as the sideline reporters.
