On Thursday, Sacramento Kings assistant coach Jay Triano joined Cattles & Ramie to discuss what happened at the NBA’s trade deadline, continually improving the team’s defense, and more.

Topics discussed include:

  • How important is team chemistry when teams consider making moves
  • “There’s a sense of relief, in a way, that we didn’t do anything so that we can continue working with our players. And we like what we have right now.”
  • If coach Triano believes the Sacramento Kings have the defensive solutions in their locker room right now
  • Trying to limit the opponent’s second-chance points
  • How much knowledge and communication is happening between the coaching staff and the front office on trade deadline day
  • “As coaches, our focus is on the next game regardless of who our players are.”
  • When Malik Monk keeps his game simple, that’s when “his abundance of skills show.”
  • How much of the gameplan changes when the team isn’t hitting three-point shots
  • Opponents adjusting when playing the Kings to take away the three-point shot
