The Sacramento Kings have hired former WNBA star Lindsey Harding as an assistant coach, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

Harding was a player development coach with the Philadelphia 76ers last season. She was the first African American female pro personnel scout for the 76ers prior to her promotion in April.

“Lindsey is a rising star and I’m so excited to have her join our incredibly experienced team of coaches,” Kings coach Luke Walton said. “Her basketball IQ and proven success on the court will be a valuable addition to our growing team as we work together to build a winning culture for many years to come.”

Harding will join former Suns’ coach Igor Kokoskov as an assistant on Walton’s staff.

Harding was a standout player at Duke, winning the 2007 Naismith College Player of the Year award, and was drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 WNBA Draft. She played nine years in the WNBA with Minnesota, Washington, Atlanta, New York, and Phoenix. Harding averaged 9.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game in 270 games during her time in the WNBA.
