Hield, Fox combine for 46 points in rout of New York

Over the course of an 82 game NBA season, there are usually several high and low points.

The Sacramento Kings had been experiencing only low points during a five-game losing streak to begin the 2019-20 season, but the team has turned things around over their past two contests. Following up a hard-fought victory against the Utah Jazz on Friday, Sacramento enjoyed a blowout win over the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon by a final of 113-92.

Led by 24 points from De’Aaron Fox and 22 points from Buddy Hield, all five starters finished in double-figures for Sacramento. Harrison Barnes scored 19 points on six-of-12 from the field to go along with four rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.

With the win, the Kings improve to 2-5 on the season after losing their first five games.

After going 0-of-five from the three-point line on Friday against Utah, Hield found his stroke on Sunday at Madison Square Garden. The sharpshooter went five-of-11 from downtown and seven-of-14 from the field for 19 points over 30 minutes of action.

Sacramento jumped out to a big lead early and never looked back, thanks to nine first-quarter points from Fox and eight from Hield. The Kings took a 32-23 lead into the second quarter before outscoring the Knicks 29-18 in the period to take a 20-point advantage into the half.

Third-quarter woes have plagued Sacramento this season, but they put those demons to rest for Sunday’s contest as they pushed their lead to 86-56 during the quarter.

New York would battle back, cutting the deficit to 99-83 with 5:53 left before the Kings went on a 14-9 run to end the contest.

Richaun Holmes had another strong showing out of the starting power forward position, scoring 14 points on six-of-eight shooting while grabbing 10 rebounds. Nemanja Bjelica did it all on Sunday, scoring 10 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists over 24 minutes.

The win over the Knicks was a step in the right direction for Sacramento as the team rolled out their best performance of the young season.

After struggling to knock down three pointers over the first five games, the Kings hit 15-of-39 three-point field goals while also shooting 48-percent from the field as a team. Rebounding was a factor on Sunday as well, with Sacramento out-rebounding New York 49-39.
