As we close in on February 8th’s NBA trade deadline, the Sacramento Kings have opened up a roster spot to provide themselves with flexibility.

According to The Kings Beat‘s James Ham, the Kings plan on waiving forward Juan Toscano-Anderson this weekend in a move that will trim Sacramento’s roster to 14 players.

Toscano-Anderson’s $1.5 million contract was set to become guaranteed on Wednesday, January 10th.

Over eight appearances with Sacramento this season, the 30-year-old forward scored two points and grabbed five rebounds over 19 minutes.

With Toscano-Anderson’s roster spot now open, Kings general manager Monte McNair has some increased flexibility when it comes to acquiring talent via trade.

During this week’s segment on The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross, The Athletic’s Sam Amick told the guys that many around the NBA believe it’s a matter of when, not if, Sacramento makes a trade in the coming weeks.
