Larry Krueger, host of “The Krueg Show” on YouTube joined Stiles & Watkins to talk about the 49ers’ offseason plans. What are his thoughts on the future of Brandon Aiyuk?
Krueger recently caught some flack for suggesting San Francisco might consider trading Aiyuk for draft picks. Does he want to see the Niners part ways with the Rocklin native? No, he clarified, he’s actually rooting for the 49ers to keep Aiyuk. But in order to improve the roster, specifically the offensive line, Krueger believes it’s a possibility.
“I think Aiyuk’s the real deal,” Krueger said before adding the 49ers receiver is probably among the Top 10 in the league. “I just look at it that the Niners were 32nd in the NFL in pass attempts and they’ve already committed $28 million to Deebo Samuel and they probably can’t trade him for very much. Does it make sense for them to commit $50 million to two wide receivers on a team where you’re dead last in the NFL in pass attempts? I’m just trying to read the tea leaves… If I was a gambling man, I would wager that they wind up moving Aiyuk, but I’m not rooting for it.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- Final thoughts on the Niners loss in Super Bowl LVIII to the Kansas City Chiefs
- Where the 49ers need to improve this offseason
- Who are realistic draft targets for San Francisco?
- Where does Brandon Aiyuk rank among the best NFL wide receivers?
- “Zero whispers” on who the next defensive coordinator could be in San Francisco
- Why the team should throw all their eggs in the Bill Belichick basket
