As we inch closer to the California Classic, basketball returned to the Sacramento Kings’ practice facility on Thursday.
Sacramento opened up its two-day mini-camp in preparation for the California Classic, which tips off on July 3rd at Golden 1 Center, with Summer League head coach Luke Loucks leading the way during Thursday’s practice session.
Loucks, 33, just finished his first season with the Kings as an assistant coach on Mike Brown’s staff.
Since the beginning of the 2016-17 season, Loucks has worked his way up from a paid internship position with the Warriors to become the team’s two-way player development coach in 2017-18. From 2019 to 2021, Loucks served as one of Golden State’s player development coaches before accepting a position in Phoenix.
Now, Loucks will look to lead Sacramento’s Summer League team to a title in Las Vegas when the NBA 2K24 Summer League tips off on July 7th.
Following Thursday’s practice, Loucks met with the media to discuss a variety of topics that included his feelings towards becoming Summer League head coach, Keegan Murray’s growth, and much more.
