The A’s have issued a statement in response to this report:

“The A’s have received a warm welcome from the Sacramento community and have seen tremendous excitement for the upcoming season, with season tickets sold out and limited single-game tickets available.

“With a ballpark capacity of just over 13,000, every seat offers a great view of the action. Gametime is an independent secondary marketplace, and prices are set by the individual sellers without involvement from the A’s. Pricing on secondary marketplaces is driven by market demand and is separate from tickets sold directly through the team.

“Our tickets start at just $25, with special $10 pricing for students and military members. We’re committed to delivering an exceptional fan experience and look forward to Opening Day on March 31.

Being one of two teams playing in a minor league park for the 2025 MLB season, the Athletics have the highest media ticket price heading into the season, per USA Today‘s Bob Nightengale.

The Athletics will be playing in California’s capital at Sutter Health Park, home of the Sacramento River Cats (G-League affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, previously affiliated with the A’s).

The ballpark seats 14,00 people. For reference, the Oakland Collessum had a capacity of 63,000.

Given the fewer number of total seats available to see major league baseball in Sacramento, they’re above the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers ($177) for media ticket prices

The Tampa Bay Rays, who will be playing in the New York Yankee’s minor-league ballpark, rank third in media ticket prices ($146) also due to their limited seating.

Viewing the Athletics, or any visiting franchises, at Sutter Health Park isn’t going to be wallet-friendly.

The Athletics have named right-handed pitcher Luis Severino as its Opening Day starter for next Thursday’s season-opener against the Seattle Mariners.

A’s manager Mark Kotsay broke the news this week, adding that the team is “really excited” about handing the ball to Severino.

“Breaking news,” Kotsay said of Severino taking the ball on Opening Day during a media session with reporters in Arizona. “Sevy will take the mound for us in Seattle on the 27th. This is a player we targeted this offseason as someone who can come in here and have an impact on and off the field. We’re really excited about that.”
