Original Story
The Athletics selected right-handed pitcher Jack Perkins from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned right-handed pitcher Anthony Maldonado to Las Vegas, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s transferred right-handed pitcher Gunnar Hoglund to the 60-day injured list.
Perkins was 3-2 with a 2.86 ERA and .559 opponents’ OPS in nine starts with Las Vegas in his Triple-A debut and will be making his Major League debut with the A’s. He ranks fourth in the Pacific Coast League with 68 strikeouts, despite spending the first month of the season on the injured list with a stress reaction in his right hip.

Perkins was the A’s fifth round selection in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft and is 11-7 with a 3.42 ERA in 55 games, including 47 starts, in four professional seasons.
