SF Giants Injury Updates: Webb set to return, Lee progressing

The San Francisco Giants could receive a major boost to their rotation this weekend, as ace Logan Webb is lined up to return from the injured list Friday against the Colorado Rockies after progressing well from right knee bursitis.

According to the club’s latest medical update released Tuesday, Webb is scheduled to throw a bullpen session before officially rejoining the rotation in Colorado. The update marks a significant step forward for the Giants, who have been without their staff ace since May 6.

Before landing on the injured list, Logan Webb struggled through an uncharacteristically rocky start to the 2026 season. The right-hander posted a 2-4 record with a 5.06 ERA across eight starts, numbers well above the standards he has established as one of baseball’s most reliable frontline starters.

Despite the difficult stretch, Webb’s return could not come at a better time for a San Francisco Giants (22-33) team trying to stabilize both its rotation and overall outlook as the 2026 season hangs in the balance.

Even while pitching through inconsistency earlier this season, Webb remained one of the most important pieces of the Giants’ roster. The 29-year-old has been the club’s Opening Day starter in recent seasons and has built a reputation as a durable innings-eater capable of stopping losing streaks and working deep into games.

The San Francisco Giants have had to lean heavily on their pitching depth during Logan Webb’s absence, but his expected return Friday provides optimism that the club can regain some momentum heading into the summer months.

A healthy Webb would immediately slot back into the top of the rotation and give San Francisco a much-needed stabilizing presence for a rotation that currently holds the 20th-ranked ERA in baseball.

Tuesday’s medical update also included several additional injury developments across the organization.

Outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is set to begin full baseball activity after dealing with a mid-back strain, while infielder Jared Olivia is preparing to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento this weekend as he recovers from a left wrist hamate fracture.

Meanwhile, outfielder Heliot Ramos continues rehabbing a right quad strain, although the Giants noted he has not yet resumed baseball activities. Pitchers Jason Foley and Reiver Sanmartin are both continuing rehab assignments with Triple-A Sacramento as they work their way back from injury.

Still, the headline development for the San Francisco Giants remains Logan Webb’s anticipated return Friday in Colorado.

If the right-hander can quickly rediscover his form, it could provide a major turning point for a Giants club searching for answers during the early months of the 2026 season.
