SF Giants Injury Updates: Bader among two OF’s added to IL

The San Francisco Giants made a series of roster moves this week to address injuries in their outfield while adding reinforcements from Triple-A Sacramento.

Per the San Francisco Giants’ official release, speedy outfielder Jared Oliva has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left wrist hamate fracture. The injury is a notable blow, as hamate fractures often require extended recovery time, particularly for hitters.

Oliva was one-for-seven with one stolen base over seven games this season.

The San Francisco Giants also placed veteran outfielder Harrison Bader on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 12, due to a left hamstring strain.

Hamstring injuries can be tricky, especially for a player like Bader whose game relies heavily on speed and defense in the outfield.

Bader, who inked a two-year, $20.5 million deal with the Giants before the start of this season, is batting .115 with one home run and three RBI over 15 games.

To help offset those losses, the San Francisco Giants recalled two outfielders from Triple-A Sacramento.

Will Brennan, who will wear No. 7, joins the big-league roster along with fan-favorite Drew Gilbert, who burst onto the scene last season and caught the attention of Giants fans due to his energy on the field and in the dugout.

Brennan, a four-year MLB veteran, hit .267 with 14 home runs and 79 RBI over 269 games with the Cleveland Guardians from 2022-25.

These moves highlight an early-season test for the San Francisco Giants’ depth, particularly in the outfield, as the organization looks to stay competitive while managing key injuries.
