The San Francisco Giants provided a series of injury updates in a report distributed Tuesday, offering a clearer picture of where several pitchers stand in their recoveries as the 2026 season progresses.
According to the San Francisco Giants’ official report, right-hander Jason Foley continues to work his way back from shoulder surgery.
Foley is scheduled to throw another live batting practice session later this week, signaling a steady progression in his rehab. The 30-year-old has been on the 60-day injured list while recovering from the procedure, with the organization taking a cautious approach as he builds toward a return.
During the 2024 season–Foley’s most recent in the majors–the right-hander posted a 3.16 ERA while striking out 46 batters over 60 innings (69 games).

Left-hander Sam Hentges is also nearing a potential step forward in his recovery. Per the San Francisco Giants’ report, Hentges is scheduled to throw one inning for Triple-A Sacramento in Tacoma, marking a key checkpoint in his rehab process.
Hentges has been dealing with both knee and shoulder surgeries and opened the season on the injured list, but a rehab appearance suggests he is trending toward being an option for the big-league bullpen in the near future.
The lefty last pitched for Cleveland during the 2024 season, posting a 3.04 ERA over 25 games.
Another arm working his way back is right-hander Joel Peguero. The San Francisco Giants noted that Peguero is continuing his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento as he recovers from a left hamstring strain.
Peguero has been sidelined since spring with what was reported as a Grade 2 strain, and while there is still no firm timetable for his return, continued rehab work is an encouraging sign.
Meanwhile, left-hander Reiver Sanmartín remains in the earlier stages of his recovery. The San Francisco Giants’ report states that Sanmartín is continuing his throwing program in Arizona as he works back from a right hip flexor strain.
Sanmartín was placed on the 60-day injured list earlier this season and is expected to miss an extended period, with previous reports suggesting a multi-month recovery timeline.
Collectively, these updates highlight the ongoing challenge for the San Francisco Giants’ pitching depth early in the season.
