The San Francisco Giants are heading into the All-Star break, but they have some players who could make their returns in the coming weeks.

The San Francisco Giants are heading into the All-Star break looking to rest up and prepare for a second-half run that many hope will end a three-year postseason drought.
While the Giants (52-45) have put themselves in the thick of the National League Wild Card race (0.5 games back of the third and final spot), they could use some reinforcements around the board.
Here are the latest updates on the San Francisco Giants’ injured players who are currently working their way back to the diamond.
San Francisco Giants Injury Updates
INF/OF Jerar Encarnacion
Injury: Left oblique strain
IL date: June 17 (10-day IL)
Expected return: Second half
Status: Will head to Arizona to play in some rehab games over the All-Star break and then continue to ramp up with Triple-A Sacramento after that.
LHP Erik Miller
Injury: Left elbow sprain
IL date: July 5 (15-day IL, retroactive to July 3)
Expected return: Second half
Status: Remains shut down from throwing. Will continue to rehab and receive treatment and will be reevaluated after the All-Star break.
INF Christian Koss
Injury: Left hamstring strain
IL date: July 1 (10-day IL)
Expected return: Second half
Status: Slated to begin baseball activity the week of July 7 and then be reevaluated after the All-Star break.
C Tom Murphy
Injury: Mid-back disk herniation
IL date: March 26 (60-day IL)
Expected return: Second half
Status: Melvin said on July 3 that Murphy is still rehabbing and that there is no timetable for his return.

Baseball’s traditional first half was extended by two innings when Giants pinch-hitter Luis Matos smacked a one-out, two-run home run off Dodgers closer Tanner Scott in the last of the ninth, drawing the hosts even at 2-2.
The blown save was the major-league-leading seventh of the season for Scott, who had set the table for Matos when he served up a single to Matt Chapman one batter earlier.
