Spring Training games are set to begin this coming weekend, which means the long wait for San Francisco Giants baseball is almost over.
While the early focus is always on new faces and roster battles, part of the intrigue at San Francisco Giants camp is watching injured players work their way back toward the diamond.
As the Giants prepare to open Cactus League play, several pitchers and one emerging reliever are progressing through rehab and inching closer to game action.
Here’s a look at where some San Francisco Giants pitchers are in their rehab as we near the start of exhibition games:

San Francisco Giants Injury Updates
RHP Jason Foley — Right Shoulder Surgery
Right-hander Jason Foley continues to move forward in his recovery from right shoulder surgery. Foley is currently throwing two bullpen sessions per week as part of his progression, an encouraging sign as camp ramps up.
Foley did not pitch during the 2025 season, but prior to his injury, he had established himself as a reliable late-inning option. In 2024, he recorded 28 saves with a 3.15 ERA and 46 strikeouts over 60 innings while playing for the Detroit Tigers.
The San Francisco Giants will take a cautious approach, but Foley’s bullpen work suggests he’s trending in the right direction.
LHP Sam Hentges — Right Knee Surgery & Left Shoulder Surgery
Sam Hentges remains on a slower track but is beginning to build toward bullpen sessions in the coming week. The left-hander missed all of 2025 while recovering from right knee surgery and left shoulder surgery.
Though he logged no stats last season, Hentges had previously been a valuable bullpen piece, posting a 3.04 ERA and a WHIP under 1.00 in 2024 over 25 games for the Cleveland Guardians.
If healthy, Hentges gives the San Francisco Giants another left-handed option with swing-and-miss potential.
RHP Randy Rodríguez — Tommy John Rehab (Right Elbow)
One of the biggest “what ifs” from last season was Randy Rodríguez. Before going down, Rodríguez was outstanding for the San Francisco Giants in 2025, posting a 1.78 ERA over 50.2 innings with a WHIP below 0.90.
He continues his rehab from Tommy John surgery and is expected to begin throwing again in mid-March. While his return timeline likely stretches into later in the 2026 season, his eventual presence could feel like a midseason addition.
RHP Joel Peguero — Tight Left Hamstring
Joel Peguero is currently limited with field work due to a tight left hamstring, but the Giants appear to be exercising caution rather than concern. Peguero was a feel-good story in 2025, making his major league debut after a decade in the minors.
He finished his rookie season with a 2.42 ERA across 22.1 innings and 17 strikeouts, quickly earning trust in the bullpen.
