After drafting Neemias Queta with the 39th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Portuguese native has agreed to a two-way deal with the Boston Celtics, per The Athletic‘s Sham Charania.

Not long after signing JaVale McGee, the Sacramento Kings released Queta and Nerlens Noel.

Not including the postseason, Queta played 43 games with the Stockton Kings last season. He averaged 28.8 minutes, 17.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.0 blocks on 68.1 percent from the field. With Stockton owning the best record in the G-League throughout the regular season (25-7), Queta was awarded First-Team All-NBA G-League.

He finished second in G-League MVP voting behind the Windy City Bulls’ Carlik Jones. Those awards were voted on by G-League coaches and general managers.

During the course of Stockton’s season, head coach Bobby Jackson shared his thoughts on Queta’s personality and playstyle.

“He’s probably one of the greatest human beings you’ll ever meet,” Jackson said. “I want him to be meaner though. I think once he gets that mean streak and just becomes dominant I think his games goes to another level.”

Between Domantas Sabonis, Trey Lyles, Alex Len, and JaVale McGee, the Kings have a handful of options at the center position. Queta only played 29 total minutes with Sacramento last season through five games.

Heading into 2022-23, Sacramento’s three two-way contracts are occupied by Keon Ellis, Jalen Slawson, and Jordan Ford. Boston’s two-way contracts are now filled with Neemias Queta, Jay Scrubb, and JD Davison.
