New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman and an Instagram follower caught a potential high school shooting plot made by a 14-year old high school student in Michigan.
“At first I was like, ‘I don’t know if this is real,” Edelman said.
Per Good Morning America, Edelman received a direct message from an Instagram follower to alert him that someone had posted a comment saying ‘he [is] going to shoot up a school,’ in one of the NFL player’s pictures.
Edelman called his assistant, Shannen Moen to take a closer look at this matter and inform the authorities.
“My initial thought was, my heart just sunk [..] And I first thought I need to go and find the comment, locate it. I did. I took screenshots of everything. I immediately called 911,” said Moen.
Boston authorities then called police in Michigan where they later identified that the threat was made by a male student in Port Huron.
The teen was later called into questioning and admitted to writing the threat on Edelman’s post. Police found two rifles in the teen’s home.
Police have not identified the student, but he was arrested and charged for making a threat of terrorism.
