When the Las Vegas Raiders kicked off training camp last week, one player, Nate Hobbs, was missing.

The Raiders cornerback missed the first four practices of training after he took a softball to the face during a charity event. Hobbs returned to the field in a red, no-contact jersey on Monday, July 31.

The injury was never thought to be serious.

“We were talking about needing to show him how to catch those things in the indoor facility at night. We’ve had a couple of jokes about that. But no, he’s doing fine,” coach Josh McDaniels said over the weekend.”

Speaking to reporters on the first day of camp, defensive end Maxx Crosby joked about how Nate Hobbs “in like two innings, he ran through the fence, he hit a home run, did a backflip, and then took a pop fly off the top of his head all in the matter of like 10 minutes.”

The 24-year-old cornerback is heading into his third year with the Silver & Black and is expected to be one of the team’s starting corners heading into the 2023 season.
