Wednesday was a big step forward for some 49ers players, and Thursday only helped build their case for a return to the field.
San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa practiced again Thursday, indicating that he is on track to play Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs. The team’s start pass-rusher has been on the mend since suffering a groin strain in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers, keeping him out for a game and a half thus far.
Returning to practice last Friday, the 49ers decided to sit him against the Atlanta Falcons out of precaution. Now back in the fold for consecutive days, his return seems imminent for the Red & Gold.

“I feel pretty good. I’m pretty optimistic [about playing],” Bosa told the media Wednesday.
Joining Nick Bosa back on the field is left tackle Trent Williams, back in limited work for a second day Thursday.
Williams, 33, suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3 in Denver, needing the help of trainers to get off the field. He had been taking part in pre-game workouts the last few weeks to stay locked in, and now looking like he could be available Sunday against Kansas City.

“It’s always huge. Getting anybody back helps and especially getting those two guys back would be huge,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday about his two star players.
Cornerback Jason Verrett also practiced in full for a second time this week Thursday, looking more and more lily that he’ll make his season debut in Week 7. Verrett has been on the injury report since tearing his ACL in Week 1 of the 2021 season.
Returning to practice two weeks ago, the former San Diego Charger could be activated off the PUP list ahead of Week 7.
“Verrett is not on [the injury report], so he is good to go,” Shanahan added.
Safety Talanoa Hufanga also returned to the practice field Thursday, doing individual work off to the side. “Huff” is still in concussion protocol at the moment, sustaining a head injury during last week’s loss to the Falcons.
