The Las Vegas Raiders continue to add to Antonio Pierce’s coaching staff, now with Joe Philbin bringing in some more veteran leadership.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Raiders are hiring Philbin to be a senior offensive assistant for the 2024 NFL season. The news came Tuesday afternoon, with local media confirming the news thereafter. The team has yet to confirm the hire.
Joe Philbin coming on as @Raiders Senior offensive assistant is quite the coup for Antonio Pierce. He now has two former NFL head coaches – Philbin and Marvin Lewis – to lean on.

Joe Philbin has been around football for the last four decades, on both the collegiate and professional levels. He was last in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys as their offensive line coach for three seasons. In 2023, Philbin was an offensive analyst for Ohio State university before taking his talents to Las Vegas the following year.
Additionally, the 62-year-old football mind has spent time as an offensive coordinator and head coach for 10 years. He led the Miami Dolphins for three and a half years until his departure Week 4 of the 2015 season. He also served as the interim coach for the Green Bay Packers in 2018. He is 60-65 overall in those 10 seasons.
Pierce and new general manager Tom Telesco have made numerous changes to the coaching staff this offseason. The group added Rich Scangarello as their quarterbacks coach Monday, also hiring James Cregg as the OL coach earlier in the month. Luke Getsy has also been hired as the team’s OC for 2024.
While more changes are still to come, the new-look Raiders have accumulated a brain trust of coaching talent to help guide Pierce along the way.
