SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Report: CB Isaiah Oliver agrees to terms with the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have made another signing Wednesday, this time in the form of cornerback Isaiah Oliver.
Reports surfaced Wednesday afternoon that Oliver and the Red & Gold had agreed to terms on a deal to bring him to the Bay in 2023. The contract is reportedly for two years, with further specifics undisclosed at this time. After losing defensive backs Jimmie Ward and Emmanuel Moseley this week, Oliver comes in to fill the void.

Isaiah Oliver, 26, was a second-round draft pick in 2018, spending the last five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. Struggling with injuries and consistency thus far, the Colorado alum has proven effective when healthy. Last season he showed versatility, able to play on the outside, and in the slot. His lone interception in 2022 came against the 49ers in Week 6, picking off former quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in a 28-14 win.
Oliver finished the 2022 season with 37 combined tackles, one sack, seven passes defended and the one INT in 12 games. Coming on strong at the end of the regular season, he produced an outstanding 77.9 overall PFF grade. His run defense was even better, finishing top-six in the NFL (81.5).
Playing primarily slot corner last season, new 49ers DB Isaiah Oliver allowed only a 72.4 rating into his coverage.
Oliver's best football has come most recently — 4 PBUs and a lot of good open-field tackling over the past 2 games of 2022

A long, rangy cover-man, Oliver will most likely compete for the starting nickel-back spot with second-year CB Samuel Womack. While he still has some potential to reach, his ability to. stop the run will be revered by new defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.
