Report: De’Aaron Fox turned down two-year, $105 million extension

According to Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox turned down a two-year, $105 million extension before the 2023-24 regular season began in late October.
While the report that Fox declined an extension with the Kings might read negatively on the surface, the All-Star guard is looking to make an All-NBA team this season to make himself eligible to sign a super-max contract worth $245 million over four years.
Per Haynes’ report, Fox doesn’t have the desire to consider options outside of Sacramento and is looking to ink a long-term extension with the Kings before or after his five-year, $163 million deal expires following the 2025-26 season.

More on Kings guard De’Aaron Fox
To echo Haynes’ report, sources close to Fox have previously told Sactown Sports 1140 that the 25-year-old hopes to ink a super-max extension and remain in Sacramento long-term.
Fox, who made his first All-Star appearance, was named to the All-NBA Third Team and became the first-ever Clutch Player of the Year winner while leading the Kings to their first postseason appearance in nearly 17 years in 2022-23, has been outspoken about his desire to bring a championship back to Sacramento.
The speedy guard is off to a strong start in 2023-24, averaging 30.8 points (fourth in the NBA), 4.7 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game over 14 appearances as the Kings (11-8) sit in the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings.
With fellow All-Star and All-NBA talent Domantas Sabonis having recently inked a four-year, $186 million extension with the ‘Beam Team,’ Fox could be next in line if he can make one of the NBA’s three All-NBA teams this spring.
