The first open general manager position in the NFL has apparently been filled.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Washington Commanders are set to hire San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters as its next GM. Neither team has yet to announce the news.
Reports earlier this week connected Peters with the Commanders and Raiders.
Sactown Sports 49ers insider Amiliano Fragoso told Jason Ross Friday morning he wasn’t surprised by the news, but by how quickly it happened.
“I did not think this was going to come this quickly, but we also knew that Washington was going to work fast with this, they wanted to get this done before anyone else,” Amil told Jason.

Adam Peters joined the 49ers organization in 2017, working his way up from vice president of player personnel to the right-hand man of General Manager John Lynch. Prior to his time in San Francisco, he also spent time with the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots, winning Super Bowls with both organizations.
New Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris now sets his sites on a new head coach. The Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers and Carolina Panthers remain as organizations with a general manager position to fill this offseason.
