Black Monday is always a day of doom and gloom for NFL franchises, but not for Adam Peters apparently.

The San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager has reportedly been asked to interview with the Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders for their general manager positions. While Peters has yet to respond, his name has popped up in previous front office openings, making him a name to watch this offseason.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first with the news Monday.

Adam Peters has been with the 49ers since 2017, working his way up the ranks to asst. GM. He has served under GM John Lynch and others for their entire run, going 67-51 in that timespan. Before the 49ers, Peters worked with the Denver Broncos for eight years.

The reports have not indicated where Peters would accept or decline the interviews. He was subject of many requests across the NFL after last season, declining all inquiries. San Francisco winning the Super Bowl could change that however, looking to establish his own brand on another team.

Additionally, Peters is good friends with Bob Myers, a recently added consultant to the Commanders. He, along with Washington’s brass, will conduct a thorough search for their next President of Football Operations and head coach.

Both Peters and Myers attended the same high school, and spent their college days together at UCLA.

As for the Raiders, Peters is only one candidate they are reached out to, also looking into Indianapolis Colts’ asst. GM Ed Dodds Tuesday.

Of the two vacancies, Las Vegas appears more appealing, but more connections reside out east. Peters may choose to wait until after the 49ers’ playoffs to conduct serious interviews, not wanting to jeopardize SF’s Super Bowl hopes.

Upcoming schedule for Adam Peters and the San Francisco 49ers

  • Sunday, Jan. 7th vs. Los Angeles Rams – 1:25 PM PST
  • January 13-14 – NFL Playoffs (Wild Card Round) – BYE
  • January 20-21 – NFC Divisional Round
