The 49ers have been busy adding to their defense this offseason, now snagging a versatile secondary member in Isaac Yiadom.
Reports surfaced Friday afternoon that the San Francisco 49ers and the cornerback had agreed to a one-year deal for the 2024 season. While it remains to be seen what his exact role with be with the Red & Gold, it’s, at the very least, more secondary depth for a team in need of it.
Yiadom’s agency, Vayner Sports, announced the deal Friday, with national media confirming thereafter.

Isaac Yiadom, 28, was drafted in the third round of the 2918 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Initially struggling to find his way in the league, he would go on to play for the Giants, Packers and Texans before finding his way to New Orleans.
2023 was a breakout year for the Massachusetts native, posting a career-high 14 pass break-ups for the Saints. He also had 37 combined tackles and one interception in only eight starts. Yiadom had an outstanding 81.1 Pro Football Focus grade, fibnshing 14th overall at the position.
While it’s not a flashy signing by any means, he could prove to be an underrated signing by the end of next season.
The 49ers have been looking to fill out their secondary for years, possessing two stellar CBs in Charvarius Ward and Deommodore Lenoir. The third corner spot has been an area of concern, unable to fill it on a consistent basis. It remains to be seen if the Boston College product can do it, he will at least have the opportunity in Training Camp.
San Francisco also reportedly signed defensive back Chase Lucas Friday, but he is seen as more a special-teamer.
Key offseason dates for the San Francisco 49ers

- April 25-27 – NFL Draft in Detroit
