Like father like son? Well maybe. At the very least, Brenden Rice will be visiting with his Dad’s former team.
Reports surfaced this week that the former USC wide receiver will have a Top-30 visit with the San Francisco 49ers. While the player is expected to field heavy interest from around the league, the 49ers have made it clear that having another Rice don Red & Gold is in the cards.
Justin Melo of The Draft Network revealed the visit this week.

Brenden Rice, 22, is the youngest child of NFL hall-of-fame WR Jerry Rice. The 49ers legend is widely regarded as the greatest wideout of all-time, amassing more than 1,500 catches and 22,500 receiving yards in 21 seasons. He won three Super Bowls with the Red & Gold, etching his name in Bay Area sports’ immortality.
His son Brenden is no slouch either, putting up 1,402 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in two seasons at USC. At 6’3″, Rice is seen as a vertical threat downfield, with the potential to be an every-down WR in a few years. He is projected to be a Day 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
While many will see him as “Jerry’s kid” if he does get elected by the 49ers, Brenden has welcomed the idea of continuing his family’s legacy. However, he won’t be doing it in his dad’s signature No. 80 jersey.
I wouldn’t say that the Niners would be the best [landing spot],” Rice said on the All Facts No Brakes podcast. “My pops already created a legacy over there and I’m trying to create my own.”
