San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is one win away from hoisting the Lombardi trophy. And Sacramento SPCA’s Bark Purdy is also one win away from chewing on the “Lombarky” trophy.
The 20th anniversary of Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl has a Sacramento connection and the Chihuahua mix is anything but irrelevant.
“As a member of Team Ruff, this Chihuahua mix comes from the Sacramento SPCA in Sacramento, California. Bark Purdy is just as mighty as his namesake. He is small but mighty; don’t underestimate this player,” the Animal Planet’s site reads.
Thirteen dogs will represent California from seven rescues or shelters.
Team Ruff’s Bark Purdy takes on Team Fluff’s Fred in the online voting period of the Puppy Bowl. The results of the popularity contest, which closes Thursday, Feb. 8, will be revealed the morning of the Super Bowl, on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. PST.
The Puppy Bowl will also feature 131 pups from 73 shelters and rescue centers across the United States.
