Only a few days removed from another Super Bowl loss, the 49ers are trying to turn the page and start the process all over again. That starts with free agency next month, and the NFL Draft a month later.
The 2024 NFL Draft order has officially been finalized, with the San Francisco 49ers holding the 31st selection this year.
This upcoming draft marks the first time the Red & Gold have had a first-round selection since 2021. SF has been without a first-round pick for multiple years due to moving up in the 2021 draft to select quarterback Trey Lance with the third overall pick.
And after getting that pick wrong, the 49ers will need to hit on their first-rounder this year to make another postseason run in 2025.

The 2024 draft order was finalized after Super Bowl LVIII, with the Kansas City Chiefs holding the 32nd selection after hoisting the Lombardi Trophy for a second consecutive season.
The 49ers are slated to have 11 draft picks in the upcoming draft, among the most in the NFL. Currently, SF is on the books for $275 million entering the new league year. The current projection for the 2024 salary cap is set between $240-245 million. However, the Red & Gold will have about $38 million rollover from last season due to contract restructures.
Already up against the cap before free agency and the draft, a lot of decisions will need to be made by the 49ers’ front office in the coming months.
The 49ers have about $275m in 2024 salary-cap liabilities over 45 contracted players. The cap is expected to be around $240-245m.
How to close that gap?
SF will carry over $38m from 2023, thanks to those big Week 1 restructures. That might leave 49ers a bit over the limit asā¦

The 49ers are slated to have many starters and key role players enter free agency next month, including defensive end Chase Young and safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. Additionally, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is entering his fifth-year option, set to command a significant contract after his first season as a Pro Bowler.
