Sasha Vezenkov, reigning EuroLeague MVP who signed with the Sacramento Kings last offseason, has dealt with multiple ankle injuries in his debut NBA season.

Throughout the season, he has rolled both ankles with varying severity, but it sounds as though the most recent is the worst yet. The Sacramento Kings announced Tuesday morning that Vezenkov suffered a grade three right ankle sprain during practice on Saturday, Feb. 10th.

According to the release, Sasha Vezenkov will be re-evaluated in 4-6 weeks. This weekend’s All-Star break does ease the number of games Vezenkov will potentially miss, but it’s an unideal situation for Sacramento to be in.

Four weeks would be approximately 12 games, while the six-week mark would take him closer to 20.

Sasha Vezenkov averages 5.6 points and 2.5 rebounds on 44.8 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from three on 2.9 attempts per game in 12.6 minutes per night.

With him unavailable, it could mean added opportunity for someone like Kessler Edwards, or head coach Mike Brown could elect to shorten their rotation moving forward.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

Sacramento will continue its three-game road trip on Tuesday night when they face the Phoenix Suns–a team that is right there with them in the Western Conference standings.

With a win over Phoenix, the Kings can clinch the regular season series and control any tiebreaker scenario over the Suns.
