Stephen Curry heard ‘Light The Beam’ chants during American Century Championship

Even during the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament, Sacramento Kings fans made themselves heard with ‘Light The Beam’ chants.
Following his impressive tournament win, Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry told the media that he heard “a lot” of Kings fans during his weekend at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe.
“It’s a four-hour drive from my house to here,” Curry said following his win on Sunday. “There were a lot of Warriors fans. There were a lot of Kings fans, and surprisingly, they were way more loud and vocal than Warriors fans. I heard a lot of, ‘Light the Beam.’ I heard a lot of, ‘Let’s go Kings’ and all that type of stuff, so that gave me a little gas in the tank, too.”
Curry’s comments on Kings fans hold a lot more weight this summer than they would have one year ago.
During the opening round of the NBA Playoffs in April, Sacramento and Golden State delivered arguably the most entertaining series of the postseason as Curry dueled Kings guard De’Aaron Fox to a decisive Game 7.
Curry scored a then-Game 7 record 50 points during a blowout Warriors win to eliminate the Kings, but it’s evident that the two-time MVP has developed respect for the Sacramento fanbase.
It wasn’t just Curry’s comments about Kings fans that raised eyebrows over the weekend, either.
During Saturday’s round, Fox was seen following Curry’s group, along with his newborn son, Reign, and his wife, Recee Fox. The All-NBA guard, who was notably a shoe free agent during the 2022-23 season, was sporting Curry’s Under Armour brand while taking pictures with fans.
Fox often wore Curry’s signature shoe down the final stretch of the season, and it appears that Sacramento’s franchise guard could be hinting at his next sneaker deal.
