California State Senator Dr. Richard Pan joined The Drive this morning to discuss updates on the COVID-19 outbreak
UPDATED: April 17, 2020
This morning on The Drive, Carmichael Dave and Jason Ross had a conversation with California State Senator Dr. Richard Pan about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak that is currently infecting over one million people worldwide.
Dr. Pan, who has been courteous enough to come on the air every Friday to enlighten the public of COVID-19 news and safety measures, was on The Drive this morning to share some updates and procedures that we can all take part in to stop the spreading of this vicious disease.
On how things have changed locally over the past week, Dr. Pan relayed some information, answered questions and more.
“First of all, cases are still rising,” he said. “They are going up slowly, that is the good news. We are all on the front lines of this pandemic. When each of us stay home, each of us stay six feet apart from each-other outside, that we aren’t in large gatherings, doing our part in washing our hands and not touching our faces, we are doing our part to stop this disease.”
“We can’t let up, otherwise we will see this rapidly spread again.”
It is likely that many asymptomatic carriers are going out in public and infecting others, not knowing that they are infected with the virus. Dr. Pan stated his concern on people going out and spreading the disease:
“It makes the job much harder to figure out how to stop the disease eventually,” he said. “We normally test people who are at higher risk; this is the first time we are testing are large group of younger people. We are finding out that 60-percent of people don’t have symptoms. That is where we think a lot of people are getting this disease, perhaps it is being spread by people who are asymptomatic and just don’t know.”
Dr. Pan goes on to discuss a variety of topics related to the COVID-19 outbreak, such as testing, further slowing the spread of the disease, and more.
