There is much controversy within the NFL and it’s players, specifically regarding what goes on during the national anthem. A protest that began with Colin Kaepernick, has now gone international with the Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch over the weekend.

The Raiders were playing against the New England Patriots in Estadio Azteca at Mexico City on Sunday. Before the game, Lynch decided to take a seat during the United State national anthem then he rose for the Mexican national anthem.

According to Bleacher Report, President Donald Trump went to Twitter to say that the NFL should suspend Marshawn Lynch for sitting down during the U.S. anthem and then rising from the bench for the Mexican anthem.

Lynch has yet to answer questions by any reporters regarding what happened in Mexico City. He also has not spoken to reporters for a majority of the 2017 season.

Lynch’s reasonings behind sitting for the national anthem have not been clearly stated.

What he has made public is his opinion on President Trump, most publicly when he wore an “Everyone vs. Trump” shirt before the Denver Broncos game that took place last month.

Trump’s biggest lobby is calling out to the NFL to suspend or fire players that refuse to stand during the anthem.

His comments about the NFL protests have actually led to the growth of the protest when numerous players from other teams, and other leagues have joined in taking a knee or sitting down while the anthem is playing.

Oakland’s Mayor Libby Schaaf went to Twitter to defend Marshawn Lynch. She wrote instead of suspending Lynch, “Let’s suspend @realDonaldTrump instead.”

Raiders wide receiver Johnny Holton had to be leave the game to be evaluated for a concussion after an injury that happened during a deep pass that bounced off his shoulder pads for an interception by Patriots Safety Duron Harmon .

The Raiders lost against the Patriots 33-8 on Sunday.

They will be playing the Denver Broncos next Sunday at the Oakland Coliseum.
