SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

How to watch 49ers v. Giants on Thursday Night Football

Sep 21, 2023, 6:00 AM

Week 2 for the 49ers went to plan, walking into SoFi Stadium and beating the Rams to go to 2-0 to start the 2023 NFL season. They’ll try to make it three straight this week, taking on the Giants on Thursday Night Football.

The San Francisco 49ers will make their 2023 season home opener against the New York Giants Thursday night. Played under the bright lights of the nation, Week 3’s clash will be featured exclusively on Amazon’s Prime Video. And what better game to have than two conference foes going at one another.

The 49ers and Giants are tied in the all-time series (21-21), with the last few years trading wins and losses between the franchises. Meeting last in 2020, the 49ers emerged victorious, winning 36-9 at MetLife Stadium.

Will New York return the favor three years later? Or, will San Francisco continue their winning ways? We’ll have to wait and see. But, this is a game that coach Kyle Shanahan is preparing vigorously for, particularly because of quarterback Daniel Jones.

“Huge challenge,” coach Kyle Shanahan said about Jones Tuesday. “It starts with his legs. Anytime you have that speed and you can run the ball like he does. They’re willing to run him. He’s willing to run. He’s physical when he runs. He’s got the skillset to run away from people. So anytime you have a quarterback like that, the challenge that does just schematically, unlocking your defense and making you have to play a certain way is always a pain. And then he’s got the ability to play in the pocket and beat you that way too. So he’s getting better each year. We’ve all really loved him coming out and I think one of the main reasons he took them to the playoffs last year. He played really unbelievable there in that second half on Sunday.”

What time does the regular-season game start?

Kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m. PST on Sunday, Sept. 21st, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Where can I watch the game?

The game will be streaming live on Prime Video. The broadcast team includes Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit in the booth, with Kaylee Hartung as the sideline reporter.
