Like clockwork, this year’s Madden release is right around the corner. And per usual, the 49ers feature frequently atop the player ratings.

EA Sports has begun rolling out player ratings for the new Madden NFL 2024 video game, with players like defensive end Nick Bosa, running back Christian McCaffrey and  left tackle Trent Williams at the top of the mountain. Both Bosa and Williams received 98 overall ratings, while McCaffrey earned a 96 overall score for his bounce-back 2022 season.

First, Nick Bosa.

The Bosa Bear is tied for second-best denfiesve end for Madden 2024, ranked a 98 overall. He is ahead of other standouts, such as Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys (97 overall), and Von Miller of the Buffalo Bills (94 overall). He is tied with Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns at 98, while Aaron Donald of the LA Rams sits one spot over in the 99 overall club.

Bosa, 25, is coming a Defensive Player of the Year season, finishing with the most sacks in the NFL (18.5). He also had 51 combined tackles, 48 quarterback hits, and two forced fumbles in 16 games played.

The Ohio state alum is expected to sign a massive extension with San Francisco before the start of the 2023 season, likely to make him the highest-paid defensive player ever.

Trent Williams has also been a staple at the top of Madden mountain, receiving the top rating for offensive tackles this year. Williams is tied with Philadelphia Eagles’ right tackle Lance Johnson at 98 overall, but both players stand alone at their respective positions.

Williams, 34, has been the best blindside protector in football for several years, taking his talents to San Francisco in 2020 via trade. A 10-time pro bowl player, the Texas native has played in 163 games in 12 seasons.

Christian McCaffrey also sees a return to elite realm of Madden, checking in at 96 overall. The running back is is only beaten by Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns (97), but is the above last season’s rushing leader, Josh Jacobs (95).

McCaffrey, 27, is coming off his best season since 2019. He finished the 2022 year with nearly 1900 yards from scrimmage and 11 total touchdowns. CMC was electric after his midseason trade to the 49ers, sparking them to a 12-game win streak into the NFC Championship Game.

Other 49ers’ player ratings have been revealed at this time, but none of them have made the top-10 in their respective groups.

At wide receiver, Deebo Samuel is listed as an 89 overall, while Brandon Aiyuk is billed at 86. Other positions revealed is defensive tackle, with newcomer Javon Hargrave given a 84 overall grade. Signing a four-year, $84 million deal this offseason, the North Carolina native feels he should be ranked higher in this year’s Madden.

EA Sports will continue to roll out player ratings over the coming days and weeks. Madden NFL 24 releases worldwide on Aug. 18.
