The 2024 NFL offseason has only been in full swing for about a week, and already we’re seeing a mass exodus of players and personnel from the 49ers, the latest being Tyrion Davis-Price.

The former 49ers running back has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on a reserve/future contract for the 2024 season. His agency, Elite Loyalty Sports, made the announcement Tuesday.

Tyrion Davis-Price, 23, was picked by the 49ers with the 93rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The former LSU standout played in seven games for the Red & Gold. He was used sporadically, rushing only 40 times for 120 yards.

TDP came into his sophomore season hoping to carve out more of a role. Instead, he was stuck behind three other RBs on the depth chart, and left off the gameday roster down the stretch.

Davis-Price joins fellow third-round selection Trey Sermon as young running backs who didn’t work out with the 49ers.

Sermon, 24, racked up 167 rushing yards and one score in his lone year in San Francisco. He was released on cutdown day in 2022, signing with the Philadelphia Eagles the following day. Since then, Sermon has featured for the Indianapolis Colts, playing in 14 contests for them during the 2023 season.

While his former 49ers counterpart is following in similar footsteps, Davis-Price will look to make the most out of his new opportunity as soon as possible.

The San Francisco 49ers have three RBs on the books for next season and will be able to add more in the draft with an expected 11 picks.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 27 – NFL Combine begins
  • Thursday, March 13 – The 2024 free agency signing period begins at 1 p.m. PST
