49ers re-sign RB Jeremy McNichols to the practice squad Tuesday

The San Francisco 49ers have added to their crop of running backs Tuesday, re-signing a familiar face in Jermey McNichols.
The veteran running back joins the 49ers practice squad Tuesday, a position he held earlier in the season. To make room, San Francisco have released tight end Troy Fumagalli from the practice squad. The signing gives the 49ers a plethora of options in the backfield, with Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell leading the way.
Jeremy McNichols, 27, has bounced around the NFL since being a fifth-round pick in the 2017 draft. The Boise State alum joined the 49ers initially in 2017, making appearances in two games. Since then, he has played for the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans. McNichols has culminated 364 rushing yards and one touchdown in his professional career, last getting touches in 2021.
The RB was also featured on the 2017 version of HBO’s Hard Knocks as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. He was victim of roster cuts on the last episode of the docuseries.

The inclusion of Jeremy McNichols is intriguing though, giving San Francisco a surplus of ballcarriers out of the backfield. Because of that, it makes you wonder if there is a corresponding move to follow in the coming days an weeks.
But only time will tell.
