According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, free agent shooting guard Sam Merrill has reached an agreement to join the Sacramento Kings.

Last season, Merrill played only six games for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was drafted with the 60th pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2020 NBA Draft. For his career, he’s averaged a .400 three-point shooting percentage.

Merrill’s addition puts the Kings roster at 20 players.

Sam Merrill, still finding his footing in the NBA, holds several records at Utah State, including

  • First in career free throw percentage (.891).
  • Second in career points (2,197), career assists (477), career 3-point field goals (319) and 3-point field goal attempts (759).
  • Fourth in career field goal attempts (1,521), games played (131) and games started (119).

The Kings have spent August filling out its roster, recently signing Quinn Cook and Kent Bazemore.

After drafting Keegan Murray with the number four pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the team kicked off free agency by signing Malik Monk. The Kings then traded Maurice Harkless, Justin Holiday, and a protected draft pick to the Atlanta Hawks for Kevin Huerter.
