Despite not practicing on Wednesday or Thursday, Arik Armstead will be on the field Sunday in Philadelphia.
The San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman told reporters Thursday that he expects to play in Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Armstead has been dealing with a foot issue the last few days, with the team and player taking a cautious approach into Sunday.
SF Chronicle’s Eric Branch was the first to report the news.
Arik Armstead won't practice today as he rests his foot, but said that he'll play on Sunday versus the Eagles. This is huge for the 49ers — Armstead has been, by far, the most productive pass-rushing DT In the NFL ever since the by week

Arik Armstead, 30, has been a staple of consistency for the 49ers over the years. Midway through 2023, the Sacramento native has posted five sacks and 26 combined tackles in 11 games played. Unfortunately, foot injuries have hampered the big man the last two seasons, only playing in nine games in 2022 due to plantar fasciitis.
This season’s injury appears to be less detrimental to Armstead though, expected to play on the foot in Week 13.
Injury Woes in Philly?
The Eagles are also dealing with injury concerns that are a bit more severe than the Red & Gold.
Three starters have been unable to practice for Philly this week, including defensive leaders Fletcher Cox and Zach Cunningham.
From not returning to the game against the #Bills to not practicing yesterday and today, it’s looking like an uphill battle for #Eagles DT Fletcher Cox to play Sunday vs the #49ers. https://t.co/8bQTr2cNgp

Fox is dealing with a groin injury that he suffered in Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills. He left the game in the second half and did not return. While the veteran defensive tackle could play against the 49ers, it appears to be an uphill battle.
The same can be said for Cunningham, dealing with a hamstring injury. He missed Week 12’s contest with the soft tissue ailment, and has not seen the field since.
Additionally, tight end Dallas Goedert logged a DNP Thursday. The pass-catcher is pushing to play against SF after missing the last month due to a broken forearm. Goedert was able to catch passes off to the side of the practice field, according to reports.
