Brock Purdy and the 49ers are still reaping the rewards of their triumph in Week 13, with the quarterback earning some flowers Wednesday.
The San Francisco 49ers gunslinger has been named the FedEx Air Player of the week for his performance against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13. Purdy returned to Philly with conviction, tossing 314 passing yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. He also had a 148.8 passer rating Sunday, one of the highest marks for the season for the young QB.
Returning to the site of his devastating UCL tear in the 2022 postseason, Purdy put on a show, cementing his place in the MVP conversation.

Brock Purdy, 23, has been a revelation for the 49ers since taking over for Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 13 of last season. Through 17 regular-season starts, he has amassed 4,559 passing yards, 39 total touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Purdy has a record of 14-3 in the regular season, and is 2-1 in the postseason.
The Arizona native currently leads the NFL in most statistical categories, including passer rating (116.1) and completion percentage (70.2). He is also the odds-on favorite to win the NFL MVP for 2023, now listed at +275 to +300 on most platforms.

Despite his play, some members of the media and fans alike discredit Purdy’s accomplishments, giving praise to his supporting cast instead. And while he is on a loaded roster, the young QB has shown the ability to thrive in the heat of battle.
“I do think that Brock Purdy doesn’t get enough credit,” J.J. Watt said on The Pat McAfee Show Wednesday. “The weapons around him are unbelievable but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s doing everything it takes for that football team.”
“The notion that he’s just a feel good story, that has to be put to rest,” Greg Olsen added about Purdy on FS1’s The Herd. “Will he win the MVP? I don’t know. Is he in the five-man race? Absolutely.”
