KHTK is bringing former members of the Sacramento Kings on the air to reflect on their time in the purple and black, talk basketball and much more!

This week on “The Grant Napear Show with Doug Christie”, Grant and Doug had legendary former Sacramento Kings assistant coach Pete Carril on the show to reflect on his time with the organization.

“Coachie” was an assistant coach with Sacramento for 15 seasons after an illustrious 29-year career as the head coach at Princeton University. On how he lasted so long at Princeton, Carril shared his thoughts on his legacy.

“As time went on, I earned that right to be listened to,” Carril said of earning his players trust. “I enjoyed my 29 years there.”

The legendary coach made his jump to the NBA in 1996 when he joined former Kings head coach Garry St. Jean’s coaching staff.

Carril, 89, was nominated into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. He went 525–273 over his 30 seasons of coaching NCAA Division 1 Basketball, including 11 appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
