The last time the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers faced off, the game ended in an odd way for quarterback Dak Prescott.
It was the Wild Card round of the 2021 playoffs and in the closing moments, Prescott was bumped by an official while running to the line in an effort to quickly spike the ball. Prescott snapped the ball, but after the game clock expired. And that was it, game over, 23-17.

Fast forward one year and the two teams are days away from meeting in the playoffs again, reigniting a storied rivalry that goes back decades.
While speaking to the media Thursday, Prescott was asked if a matchup with the 49ers was something he and the rest of the team wanted after how last year’s run ended.
“Most definitely I did,” Prescott said. “I think this whole team did. Obviously using that loss last year as a motivation and the focal point, I guess, as the resiliency that we carried into the offseason and into this year. Yeah, we get a chance to go back and, at their place, do something that we want to do.”
He was then asked what stood out from last year’s loss, to which he said his performance.
“I just didn’t execute well enough to give us an opportunity to win,” Prescott said, adding the defense played well but he could’ve done more. “Yeah, just didn’t execute and do my job.”
Micah Wants The Best
When linebacker Micah Parsons spoke to the media, he made a point to say he’s not afraid of the 49ers’ offensive line.
“Trent [Williams]’s is cool. I think he’s one of the better tackles but that’s what I look for, best on best,” Parsons said. “So I want Trent’s best game ever and he’s going to get my best game ever and just the passion in the sport, that’s what you want. I’m not intimidated or feel like he’s a threat cause I’m a threat, too. So he’s going to get my best and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get his best.”
