On the second day of Week 4’s preparation, Deebo Samuel did not make his presence felt in practice.

The San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver was absent from the media portion of Thursday’s practice. However, he was seen walking off the field after the team’s walkthrough session prior, heading into the weight room thereafter. The offensive weapon was seen with no visible discomfort to his ribs or knee, according to Cam Inman of San Jose Mercury News, suggesting that his absence is more precautionary.

Deebo Samuel previously missed both Monday and Wednesday’s practice this week, after having the weekend off due to Thursday Night Football in Week 3. The rib injury was well-known, but the knee ailment is new, popping up after the team’s win over the New York Giants.

“It was something we didn’t really know until the next day, later in that day. Just him being sore and stuff. He didn’t realize it until later,” coach Kyle Shanahan said about Samuel Wednesday.

Besides that, San Francisco is trending in the right direction with injuries, as WR Brandon Aiyuk shed his blue non-contact jersey Thursday. Aiyuk has been dealing with a shoulder injury that kept him out in Week 3.

Joining Aiyuk at practice was linebacker Dre Greenlaw, making his first appearance of the week as he battles an ankle sprain. He is not expected to miss any time.

Additionally, WRs Jauan Jennings (shin) and Danny Gray (shoulder) were seen working off to the side of practice Thursday. The latter is currently on the injured reserve, expected to be re-activated possibly next week.
