No NFL offseason is complete without new Jimmy Garoppolo rumors and that’s just what has happened.
After reports surfaced this week that Jimmy G could be linked to the Houston Texans, new offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik had his introductory press conference with the team Wednesday. Among the many questions asked was about Garoppolo, his former quarterback with the San Francisco 49ers.
Set to be a free agent this spring, Garoppolo could be a name to watch in Texas, especially after Slowik didn’t deny the interest Wednesday.
“He’s going to be a free agent,” Bobby Slowik said about Jimmy Garoppolo. “We grind through that as a coaching staff. We grind through that in the personnel department. We have conversations. I have conversations with [general manager Nick Caserio]. He has conversations with [head coach DeMeco Ryans]. And then Nick and DeMeco kind of put their heads together and lay out a plan and what we want to do going forward, and we’ll see where that takes us.”

Currently equipped with the No.2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, many expect Houston to pick its’ QB of the future next month. But with an ever-evolving AFC, the Texans could use as much help as they can get at signal-caller.
One thing is for certain: The new-look Texans will be a tough out under Slowik and Ryans.
“Are we fast? Are we physical? Are we tough? That’s something we want our offense to be able to say,” Bobby Slowik added.
Leaving the 49ers after six seasons in The Bay, Bobby Slowik will always be appreciated for his contribution to the coaching staff in San Francisco. Referred to as one of the brightest minds in the building, general manager John Lynch had nothing but praise for the 35-year-old coordinator.
“When he first came [to the 49ers], he was working with Robert Saleh on the defensive side of the ball and I think picked up a lot of his core beliefs and understanding of how you attack defenses by studying defenses and helping Saleh,” Lynch stated at the NFL Combine about Slowik. “But Bobby was always one of was one of Kyle’s trusted voices. Bobby’s extremely poised, extremely smart, and I think ready for the next step…I think so highly of their family, but Bobby will do really well and he’s ready for that opportunity with the Texans.”
