The voice of Sacramento Kings radio Gary “G-Man” Gerould joined “The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross” Tuesday to discuss the team’s blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the growth of De’Aaron Fox, injuries stacking up for Sacramento, and more.
On Monday, Fox was named the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week. Over the last week, the Kings’ guard averaged 32.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 2.3 steals while shooting 52% from the field and 44% from three-point land (9.0 attempts per game).
But against the Pelicans, De’Aaron Fox couldn’t buy a bucket. He finished the game with just 14 points and just under 17% from behind the three-point line.
“When you look at the overall piece of work, Fox has just been sensational,” Gerould said of Fox’s recent play, including his improved three-point shooting. “And as hard as he’s worked on that, and you may have seen on social media his wife Recee was crediting [Kings assistant coach] Luke Loucks for all of the diligent efforts over the course of the offseason, and helping De’Aaron become so much more effective and efficient in three-point shooting. And last night you see him go two for twelve, man, if I know Fox, I know he’s beating himself up, but he’s always a confident player and he’ll keep shooting them.”
Luke made him shoot after practice yesterday instead of getting on the bus to go back to the hotel. So let’s all thank him 😂
