Jason Anderson, Sacramento Kings reporter for the Sacramento Bee, joined Cattles & Ramie, to discuss the Monte McNair contract extension, how essential Harrison Barnes has been for the team recently and more.

  • Was it a goal to get Monte McNair’s contract extension done before the trade deadline?
  • “First and foremost, they wanted to see this work…but it’s working so you get to this point and I think it just made a lot of sense to go ahead and get this deal done now.”
  • Would the deal with McNair have gotten done if the team wasn’t as successful as they currently are?
  • Outside of the standings, what’s been most surprising about this Sacramento Kings team so far this year?
  • “To see them number one in scoring, to see them top five in offensive rating and true shooting and effective field goal percentage and all these other advance stats, that to me is better than expected.”
  • The team will be engaged in trade discussions, but Harrison Barnes is essential and nearly untouchable right now
  • “I’m not sure I see HB going anywhere. I think it might be more likely he stays and maybe even signs an extension”
