The Sacramento Kings shot 37.5 percent from the field and were able to keep the game close but it wasn’t enough as the Lakers defeated the Kings 111-106 Sunday night.

The 37.5 percent from the field was tied for the second-lowest mark on the season for the Kings, tying their output against the Grizzlies in December, a game the Kings were able to win 102-99.

Sacramento was able to keep the game close with their three-point shooting and scoring off of Lakers turnovers. The Kings forced 22 Los Angeles turnovers and produced 30 points from them.

Marvin Bagley III led the team in scoring with 25 points off of the bench from 10-of-19 shooting and two-of-three from the three-point line. In his last five games, the rookie has shot 70 percent from deep. Bogdan Bogdanovic added 17 points of his own off the bench including 3-of-4 from three.

While Buddy Hield made five of his 12 three-pointers, him and De’Aaron Fox combined to shoot 24.3 percent (nine-for-37) from the field and combined for just 27 points.

The shooting struggles continued for the Kings at the free throw line, as they have all season. Sacramento left nine points at the charity stripe shooting 14-of-23 at the line. As of Sunday, the Kings were the fourth-worst team in the league at the free throw line.

Amid all the shooting struggles, Sacramento was in a position to win late in the fourth quarter but couldn’t quite get over the hump. After hitting a three to cut the Lakers lead to two, LeBron James hit two free throws to extend the league to four. The Kings called a timeout trailing 108-104 but Bogdanovic was called for a five-second violation with 16.6 seconds remaining, allowing the Lakers to tack on one more point and push the lead to five.

With the loss, the Lakers took the season series against the Kings three games to one. Sacramento continues their five-game road trip Tuesday night as they head to Dallas to take on the Mavericks.
