The San Francisco 49ers will likely be without a few names for their upcoming clash with the Seattle Seahawks, including defensive tackle Arik Armstead.
The 49ers’ current longest-tenured member will miss practice Wednesday due to foot and knee issues, according to coach Kyle Shanahan. Armstead has been laboring with foot issues the last few weeks, missing two practice sessions leading up to Week 13. But after logging limited work last Friday, the Sacramento native toughed it out in Philadelphia. He finished the game with only one tackle.
Because of the dual lower-body ailments, the player is unlikely to play this week against the Seattle Seahawks. Shanahan also suggested that it is too soon to say he will be back for Week 15 either, being cautious with the 30-year-old DT.
“I’d be surprised if he plays this week,” Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday.
While the injury is a blow to both the player and the team, Armstead’s absence is not viewed as long-term at this time.
Sounds like relatively good news on Arik Armstead: Kyle Shanahan said that it’ll probably be a week or two before he’s back, but it’s not an ACL or MCL issue with his knee

Arik Armstead, 30, has had a rejuvenated 2023 campaign after missing half of the 2022 season with plantar fasciitis. The Pleasant Grove High School alum has five sacks, 27 combined tackles and 13 quarterback hits this season.
Aside from Armstead, the 49ers will be without a handful of other players Wednesday, including running back Elijah Mitchell, tight end Ross Dwelley, and right guard Spencer Burford.
49ers projected Wednesday practice report:
Not practicing:
DT Arik Armstead (foot, knee)
RB Elijah Mitchell (knee)
TE Ross Dwelley (ankle)
RG Spencer Burford (knee)
CB Darrell Luter Jr. (hamstring)
Limited:
