Mayor Steinberg says ‘we never gave up’ on an MLS team in Sacramento

Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Friday morning to talk about the news that the Sac Republic may have a new investor.
KCRA News reported Thursday that the Stronach Investment Group announced Thursday that it’s in talks with the Sacramento Republic FC for its bid to join Major League Soccer. Steinberg provided an update on what could come next.
“It was time to tell the public we have actually been working very hard on this the last year plus,” Mayor Steinberg said. “We never gave up, even after the Rob Burkle, unfortunate situation. Everybody thought it was dead but we never gave up… It’s kind of an odd thing, on the one hand, we report that we are still very much in the hunt, but it’s far from done. And there are some things that are out of our control.”
