Mike Fiers pitched the second no-hitter of his career one year ago today when he stymied the Cincinnati Reds

All athletic events will be on pause for the foreseeable future, which is a tough pill to swallow for sports fans around the world.

While this may be a rough time for Oakland Athletics fans, we can look back on some good times while we wait for baseball to make its return.

May 7, 2019: A’s 2, Reds 0

Oakland Athletics starter Mike Fiers delivered an electric performance on this date in 2019, pitching the 300th no-hitter in Major League Baseball history against the Cincinnati Reds.

Jurickson Profar doubled in a run to get Oakland on the board in the bottom of the second inning, a run that would go on to be all that the Athletics would need. Profar would provide an insurance run for Fiers in the bottom of the seventh inning with his third home run of the season.

Fiers struck out six batters while only walking two during the second no-hit performance of his career. Fiers tossed 131 pitches, the last being a swinging strike to Reds infielder Eugenio Suarez for the final out.

The veteran right-hander had a strong 2019 for the Athletics, finishing the season with a 15-4 record and a 3.90 ERA.
